The Lagos State Government, in partnership with Huawei Technologies, has rolled out new Intelligent Transport System (ITS) sites to monitor speeding, detect traffic violations, and improve road safety.
This initiative includes the installation of 3,000 e-police and speed-limit cameras across Lagos, ensuring stricter enforcement of traffic laws. According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, no vehicles are exempt from these measures. Violators will receive SMS notifications from the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) detailing their offense and fine, with penalties set at ₦20,000 for running a red light and ₦50,000 for exceeding speed limits.

How to Challenge a Wrongly Issued Traffic Fine in Lagos
If you believe you were wrongly fined for a traffic violation in Lagos, follow these steps to challenge it:
Step 1: Use the TMS Website or App
- Visit the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) website at tms.lagosstate.gov.ng or open the TMS mobile app.
- Locate the specific violation you want to challenge.
- Click the “Challenge” button to begin the dispute process.
- Follow the instructions provided on the platform.
- Upload any evidence you have, such as photos or videos, to support your case.
- Submit the challenge within 5 working days of receiving the fine.
Step 2: Contact LASTMA for Support (If Needed)
- If you experience technical issues, send an email to tmssupport@lagosstate.gov.ng.

Important Considerations:
- Timeframe: You have a maximum of 5 working days to challenge the fine. After this period, the challenge option is no longer available, and you must pay the fine.
- Cancellation: If you change your mind, you can cancel your challenge at any time by simply paying the fine.
